What You Need to be Doing Right Now at the Beginning of Q3
April 8, 2021 - We’re less than 100 days into the new administration, but we’ve already seen a lot of activity that will affect agency missions and spending priorities—and we expect more to come in the near future. Many new federal appointees have assumed their positions and are now assessing their programs, personnel, and needs.
As leaders begin prioritizing needs and objectives, we expect many will push to introduce new programs. Additionally, we are eight days into Q3, which means that procurement offices are deep into planning acquisitions that need to be finished by September 30th.
This means a few things for you:
Now is the time to double down on reaching out to contracting for expiring 8(a) sole sources that you have identified. Especially if the incumbent has graduated.
Get your white papers together and push them to program offices to introduce new ideas for work for your company. One focus should be small dollar projects (under $250k) that are perfect for end of year spending.
Plan another blitz of outreach at the end of July and the beginning of August. Get on the contracting office’s radar for end of fiscal year spending.
I expect that this end of fiscal year will be a flurry of spending, so be prepared and ready to go. Get ready!
